On May 15, 2022, at around noon, the Port Authority of Serifos was alerted to a mechanical fault affecting the starboard side main engine of the ferry 'Champion Jet 1'. The vessel was en route from Piraeus to Serifos when the captain reported a malfunction in the electronic speed system. Despite this setback, the ferry managed to safely navigate to Serifos, where it successfully disembarked 69 passengers and 11 vehicles from a total of 412 passengers and 49 cars onboard. Initially, the Port Authority prohibited the ferry's departure until a maintenance certificate from the overseeing classification society was presented.
