In a recent maritime incident, the Hanjin Shipping containership, Hanjin New York, encountered difficulty when it dragged anchor and subsequently collided with the MSC containership, MSC Claudia. This incident took place on Friday while both vessels were stationed at the Eastern Bunkering 'A' zone, situated close to Singapore's Anchorage off Changi Naval Base, as reported by The New Paper. A spokesperson from the Maritime and Port Authority confirmed that the Hanjin New York's anchor dragged before it struck the bow of the MSC Claudia. As a result, ten containers, part of the 8,586 TEU capacity of the Hanjin-owned vessel, fell onto the bow of the MSC ship, with one additional container ending up in the sea. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries to the crew or pollution from the accident, though both vessels sustained minor damages. Notably, the Hanjin New York is among five vessels currently navigating the waters of Singapore, as noted by maritime consultancy Alphaliner.
