Located roughly 100 miles south of Tenerife, the yacht's crew found themselves in a precarious situation. To secure the best possible care for the patient, the CROSS Jobourg facilitated a conference call with the maritime medical consultation center in Toulouse and the coordination service in Le Havre. Following their recommendation, a medical evacuation was swiftly arranged. A Caiman helicopter, dispatched from the French Navy base in Maupertus, was deployed with a medical team from the Querqueville army health service on board. Upon reaching the chemical tanker, the medical team provided critical first aid to the patient before lifting him into the helicopter. The patient was then transported to Quai des Flamands in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, where the La Manche departmental fire and rescue service took over medical responsibility, ensuring the individual was swiftly transferred to the Pasteur de Cherbourg University Hospital for further treatment.
