This significant event took place on June 26, as confirmed by a press release from the Magampura Port Management Company. The vessel was aptly named OEL Colombo in January 2014, reflecting the owners' commitment to serving the Sri Lankan market for over two decades. Following the grand opening of the facility by President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Orient Express Lines Director Ritesh Ramakrishnan presented the President with a cheque, marking the first transaction for fuel at this new location. The ceremony was well-attended, featuring key figures such as Project Minister for Highways, Ports, and Shipping Rohitha Abeygunawardena, Dr. Priyath Bandu Wickrema, and Marius Gomez, Vice President of Orient Express Lines, underscoring the importance of this milestone for the region's maritime operations.
