On January 7, 2021, a significant maritime incident unfolded in the Suez Canal involving the bulk carrier 'Great Link'. The vessel, operating in a southbound convoy from Port Said to Port Kamsar, ran aground at kilometer marker 51 at approximately 4:30 a.m. This grounding led to a cascading effect when the 'Jin Zhou Hai', traveling from Istanbul to Hong Kong and following closely behind, collided with the dredger 'Mashhour', which was engaged in operations in the vicinity.
