UASC Teams Up with Hanjin and Evergreen for New WAF2 Service Linking West Africa

Jul 14, 2013 10:11

In a strategic move to enhance their service offerings, UASC, Hanjin, and Evergreen are set to launch a new addition to their West African service portfolio. The upcoming 'WAF2' service (#2855) will establish a vital second trade route connecting the Gibraltar Straits with West Africa, specifically focusing on Algeciras and various key destinations in the region. Each shipping line will contribute one vessel to this new route. The 'WAF2' service will complement the existing ‘WAF’ loop (#178), which has become a cornerstone for freight transport in West Africa. Both services will include a stop in Algeciras, a significant hub where cargo can connect to mainline vessels. While the established ‘WAF’ service caters primarily to Ghana (Tema) and Ivory Coast (Abidjan), the innovative ‘WAF2’ will target new markets, specifically Benin (Cotonou) and Togo (Lome). This expansion reflects the commitment of the trio of shipping companies to meet growing trade demands and improve logistics in the West African corridor.
