In the early hours of June 28, 2025, the 'CMA CGM Africa Three' found itself under attack while navigating the busy waters of the Singapore Strait. At precisely 12:55 a.m., five armed intruders, wielding knives, boarded the vessel as it sailed in the eastbound lane of the Traffic Separation Scheme. The ship was on its route from Tanjung Pelapas, Malaysia, to Pointe des Galets, Réunion, with an estimated time of arrival set for July 12. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported during this alarming incident, but the assailants managed to steal valuable engine spares from the ship.
