The Cma-Cgm-Callisto: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

On February 5, 2020, the container ship CMA CGM Callisto encountered significant engine problems, leaving it disabled and adrift off the northern coast of Vancouver Island. The vessel, carrying a crew of 26, found itself in the waters at coordinates 48° 37' 37.6" N and 125° 20' 51.2" W around 8 a.m. Fortunately, after undergoing repairs, the ship was back under way by 5:30 a.m. on February 6. Currently, the CMA CGM Callisto is on a course towards Qingdao, with an estimated arrival date set for February 18.

In a remarkable milestone for the Pacific Northwest, the Northwest Seaport Alliance, which encompasses the Ports of Seattle and Tacoma, welcomes the CMA CGM Callisto, the largest container ship to ever dock at Puget Sound. This monumental vessel arrived at Terminal 18 on September 2, 2015. While this impressive ship boasts significant dimensions and capacity, it still falls short of the scale of ships that the port envisions for the revamped Terminal 5, designed to accommodate vessels capable of carrying up to one-third more container volume. Following its historic stop, the Callisto is set to depart tomorrow.

In August, the CMA CGM Callisto, identified by IMO number 9410753, made its debut in Hamburg, marking the launch of the new FAL5 shipping service. This vital route connects the bustling Port of Hamburg with key ports including Port Kelang, Singapore, Ningbo, Shanghai, Yantian, and Tanjung Pelepas. The FAL5 service is a collaborative effort between CMA CGM and Maersk, enhancing global trade connections and providing efficient logistics solutions for cargo transportation across these strategic locations.
