On May 9, 2019, a cargo handling operation at Singapore's Pasir Panjang Container Terminal experienced a significant mishap involving the CMA CGM Lyra. At approximately 6 a.m., four containers fell from the main deck stowage area into the surrounding waters and onto the wharf at pier No. P36. Of these, three containers plunged into the sea while one landed directly on the pier, causing noticeable structural damage to the vessel's main deck handrails, lashing stacking stations, and the railway section adjacent to stowage bay No. 7. After completing initial damage assessments and concluding the cargo operations, the CMA CGM Lyra resumed its voyage from Singapore later that same day. An inspection and salvage operation for the three submerged containers was carried out on May 10, with surveyors on site to oversee the recovery efforts from sea to the terminal.
