The United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) is set to replace Israeli shipping line Zim on the Asia-North Europe AEX 1 route operated by China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL) at the end of April. This strategic move marks the beginning of enhanced collaboration between UASC and CSCL in the Asia-Europe shipping sector. Meanwhile, changes loom for UASC's AEX 7/AEC 8 service, as the French shipping giant CMA CGM prepares to depart, taking its sole vessel, the 12,552-TEU CMA CGM Nevada, with it. In May, UASC will introduce two of its larger 13,100 TEU vessels to fill the gap left by the Nevada, withdrawing these ships from the joint FAL 1/AEC 2 service previously shared with CMA CGM, according to reports from industry analyst Alphaliner. Additionally, UASC will exit the AEC 2 service entirely. The AEX 1 service is set to be rebranded as AEC 1 by UASC and will feature a fleet of ten 9,500-TEU vessels, all sourced from CSCL, enhancing the efficiency and capacity of this key trading route.
