On June 15, 2016, the container vessel CMA CGM Rossini encountered a fire in its cargo hold while nearing the port of Colombo. The incident resulted in the flames spreading to multiple containers, prompting the dedicated crew to spring into action and successfully extinguish the fire. Following the emergency, the CMA CGM Rossini remained in Colombo until June 26 for assessments and repairs. The ship then set sail for Suez, with an estimated arrival date of July 4.

On the morning of October 20, 2023, two sailors aboard the catamaran 'Llama Lo' made it safely to shore at the Table Bay Sea Rescue base located in Cape Town's vibrant V&A Waterfront.
