On January 24, 2025, the Spanish maritime rescue organization, Salvamento Marítimo, came to the aid of the CMA CGM Sinnamary, a container ship experiencing mechanical failures amidst tumultuous seas in the southern Vigo Estuary. The crew of the CMA CGM Sinnamary, which was caught between the picturesque Cíes Islands and the Monteferro headland, issued a distress signal requesting urgent assistance. In response, tugs María Pita, Doctor Pintado, and Helechosa were dispatched from the port at approximately 10:30 a.m. and arrived at the scene by 11:00 a.m. Fortunately, by that time, the vessel had regained a cruising speed of 8.3 knots, eliminating the need for a tow. The CMA CGM Sinnamary later entered the estuary with the three rescue vessels providing escort. Following the incident, the ship resumed its voyage on January 25, continuing its journey towards Rotterdam.
