Working Conditions Aboard the Coastal-Discovery

On October 24, 2013, the tugboat "Coastal Discovery" came to the rescue of the Dunbar-based trawler "Scorpion - LH 183," which had become stranded on Craigleith Island in the Firth of Forth. The incident unfolded when the trawler encountered complications after ropes became ensnared in its propeller, leaving it vulnerable to the forces of strong winds and tidal currents. This unfortunate situation resulted in the vessel being pushed onto the island, located just off North Berwick. In response to the emergency, the Coastguard reached out for assistance from nearby vessels, leading the "Coastal Discovery" to swiftly respond. Meanwhile, lifeboat crews were mobilized to help in the critical rescue operation. With reports indicating damage to the hull of the "Scorpion," which was taking on water, the dedicated crews from the two Dunbar lifeboats efficiently deployed a team of three and a pump onboard. Their efforts were successful in managing to stem the flow of water, allowing the damaged trawler to be safely towed back to its home port by the "Coastal Discovery."
