In the early hours of May 14, 2024, a swift medical evacuation was executed by the helicopter unit of the Icelandic Coast Guard. The operation was initiated after a passenger aboard the MV Commandant Charcot experienced a severe medical condition while navigating the picturesque east coast of Greenland. Responding promptly, the TF-EIR helicopter crew undertook a considerable flight distance from Reykjavík, covering approximately 130 nautical miles north of Horn. Upon arrival, the crew successfully hoisted the ailing man aboard and confirmed that he was in stable condition.
