Working Conditions Aboard the Commander

On November 18, 2014, the Indian Navy utilized the chartered vessel 'Olympic Canyon', belonging to Reliance Industries, to perform an underwater survey of the sunken torpedo recovery vessel 'TRV 72'. This tragic incident occurred on November 6 off the coast of Visakhapatnam, resulting in one fatality and four sailors still unaccounted for. Initial observations showed that the wreckage of TRV 72 remains upright at a depth of approximately 370 meters. The navy plans to analyze the recorded video footage to inform their next steps in this ongoing investigation. Reliance Industries Ltd provided crucial support with their remotely operated vessel, conducting videography that began at dawn and wrapped up by evening. This mission is part of a broader Board of Inquiry aimed at uncovering the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate accident, while the 'Olympic Canyon' continues its operations in the Krishna-Godavari Basin.
