Containerships 6 Allides with New Southern Lock in Brunsbüttel
On March 8, 2020, at 11:35 AM, the vessel 'Containerships 6' encountered an incident as it began its Kiel Canal transit from Rotterdam to Helsinki. The ship allided with the middle wall of the New Southern Lock in Brunsbüttel, causing its port side stern to make contact with the structure. This unfortunate event resulted in only minor damage to the wall, as well as a slight dent in the rubber strake of the vessel. Preliminary reports suggest that sudden gusts of strong wind led to an unexpected right turn of the 'Containerships 6'. After a swift inspection and assessment, the ship was permitted to resume its journey at 1:00 PM, with the estimated time of arrival in Helsinki set for March 10.
Containerships VI Encounters Mechanical Issues Near Borkum
On August 7, 2019, at 11:25 PM, the Containerships VI set sail from Hamburg heading to Rotterdam. However, the vessel encountered difficulties on August 8 while navigating the North Sea, specifically northwest of Borkum, near the R10 windfarm at coordinates 53° 46' 36'' N, 6° 7' 24'' E. Around 7:30 AM, a broken cylinder in the main engine was reported, causing the ship to drift at a slow pace of 2-4 knots. The situation prompted a response, and by 5:30 PM, the German emergency tug Nordic arrived to assist. Later in the evening, two additional tugs, Waterstraat and Waterstroom, joined the effort in the vicinity of 53° 33.00' N, 6° 41.50' E. After successfully addressing the issue, the tugs returned to Eemshaven shortly after midnight. The Containerships VI then docked in Eemshaven to carry out necessary repairs. Unfortunately, the same mechanical problem reoccurred while the vessel was still near the Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS), necessitating another return to Eemshaven for further maintenance. Finally, after resolving the issues, the ship departed again on August 10 at 6 PM, this time heading towards Helsinki, with an estimated arrival date of August 13.
