The incident unfolded around 9 a.m. when the vessel's crew contacted the Coast Guard Houston-Galveston watchstanders, reporting that a 48-year-old male crew member was exhibiting stroke-like symptoms. Following a consultation with the duty flight surgeon, a medevac was deemed necessary. A 45-foot Response Boat–Medium from Coast Guard Station Galveston was promptly dispatched, carrying emergency medical services personnel to provide on-site assistance. Upon arrival, the crew faced a challenge; the patient had lost the ability to walk, preventing a direct transfer. In response, a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Houston was diverted to the scene. The helicopter successfully hoisted the incapacitated crew member and transported him in stable condition to the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston for further medical care.
