COSCO Japan Container Ship Resumes Course After Drifting Near Parashumir Island

On May 31, 2015, a Russian patrol aircraft detected the container vessel 'COSCO Japan' drifting at coordinates 49 03N 158 13E, approximately 120 miles east of Paramushir Island, located in the northern Kuril Archipelago. The ship was originally traveling from Shanghai towards Prince Rupert when it encountered issues. Following the observation, the COSCO Japan adjusted its speed and altered its course, now making its way towards Japan, with an estimated time of arrival (ETA) set for June 7.
