In a significant step for its fleet expansion, Seaspan Corporation has taken delivery of the COSCO Vietnam, a cutting-edge 8500 TEU containership, from Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. This marks Seaspan’s fourth vessel delivery in 2011, elevating its operating fleet to a robust total of 59 vessels. The COSCO Vietnam has been chartered to COSCO Container Lines Co., Ltd. (COSCON) under a strategic twelve-year fixed-rate time charter, which includes options for COSCON to extend the charter for an additional up to three years. Notably, the COSCO Vietnam is the last in a series of eight sister ships, bringing the total number of vessels chartered by Seaspan to COSCON to eighteen.
