CSCL Welcomes the Impressive 14,074-TEU CSCL NEPTUNE to Its Fleet
In an exciting development for global shipping, China Shipping Container Line (CSCL) has officially taken possession of the CSCL NEPTUNE, a remarkable vessel with a capacity of 14,074 TEUs. This ship is the final addition to an order of eight cutting-edge vessels placed in August 2007 at the Samsung shipyard, each costing approximately $170 million. These ships, known as 'neo-overpanamax', are designed to accommodate 20 rows of containers on deck—exceeding the maximum permitted by the newly expanded Panama Canal locks, as reported by Alphaliner. Originally intended for the Far East-Europe shipping lane, the CSCL NEPTUNE will make its debut this week in the Far East-Middle East joint service alongside industry giants CMA CGM, CSCL, and UASC under the AMA/CIMEX/AGX 1 route. Managed by CSCL Star Shipping Co Ltd, a subsidiary of the China Shipping Group based in Hong Kong, the CSCL NEPTUNE is also registered there. Notably, this addition follows the delivery of the CSCL URANUS earlier this March, further enhancing CSCL's expansive fleet and service capabilities.
