New 19,100 TEU Containership CSCL Pacific Ocean Launched in South Korea
The Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard in South Korea has proudly announced the naming and delivery of the CSCL Pacific Ocean, marking the arrival of the second vessel in a groundbreaking series for China Shipping Container Lines. This monumental event took place on December 19th, solidifying CSCL Pacific Ocean's status as one of the world's largest containerships with an impressive capacity of 19,100 TEU. This new giant will soon set sail to join its predecessor, the CSCL Globe, which recently commenced its inaugural journey, reinforcing the Asia-Europe shipping route. The CSCL Pacific Ocean measures 400.0 meters in length and 58.6 meters in width, making it slightly narrower than the Maersk Triple-E series, which measures 59 meters. Additionally, both the CSCL Globe and CSCL Pacific Ocean are designed with a state-of-the-art, electronically controlled main engine boasting 77,200 bhp. This innovative technology significantly boosts fuel efficiency by up to 20% by adjusting fuel consumption in accordance with the ship's speed and sea conditions. With the introduction of these 19,100 TEU vessels, China Shipping Container Lines edges ahead of the Maersk Triple-E ships, which had previously held the record for TEU capacity. The maritime industry can expect these new giants to redefine shipping standards and enhance the efficiency of global trade.
