A nighttime alarm on December 16, 2017, prompted the Thyborøn Rescue Station to spring into action when the coaster "DC Eems" experienced difficulties exiting the Limfjord quay at the south port. Struggling against strong currents, the vessel lost control and became stranded on the eastern side of the navigation channel. Responding swiftly, the lifeboat "Martha Lerche" made efforts to keep the coaster stabilized, preventing it from drifting towards a nearby sandbank. After two challenging hours of maneuvering against the fierce stream, the crew successfully freed the vessel. Following the ordeal, the "DC Eems" was able to resume its journey to Harlingen, carrying approximately 4,500 tons of gravel, with an estimated arrival date of January 18.
