On May 21, the tanker 'Brightoil Glory' was auctioned off to a special purpose entity named Sky Limit. This auction followed significant legal challenges for the vessel, as it was detained in January following a court order requested by German bank Nord/LB. The bank sought to enforce a ship mortgage agreement with Brightoil Petroleum, the owner of the tanker, to recover outstanding debts.

The High Court in Hong Kong is set to proceed with the sale of the 2013-built Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) Brightoil Glory, following the failure of its owner, Brightoil Petroleum, to settle outstanding debts associated with the vessel. This legal action comes after the court detained the ship in January at the request of Nord/LB, a German bank that has sought relief under a ship mortgage contract linked to the Brightoil Glory. The impending sale highlights the ongoing financial struggles faced by the company and raises questions about its future in the maritime industry.
