However, insiders indicate that the ban stems from Baghdad's frustrations over the transport of oil conducted by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). Charterers have confirmed receipt of SOMO's directive, which explicitly bars the utilization of these tankers for loading Iraqi crude. As one of the largest crude oil exporters globally, Iraq grapples with a continuing dispute with the KRG regarding the management and sale of oil produced in the region, further complicating the dynamics in the oil market.
