On Tuesday night, a foreign cargo vessel experienced a fire incident in its engine room while docked at the Kandla port in Gujarat, leaving three crew members with burn injuries, according to official reports. The incident transpired after the Malta-flagged vessel had completed its timber unloading and was preparing to depart the port with a cargo of salt. Quick action by port authorities ensured that the injured crew members, which included two Filipinos and one Sri Lankan, were promptly transported to Gandhidham hospital, located approximately 12 kilometers from the port. Fortunately, medical personnel assessed their injuries as not serious. Despite the fire, port traffic has remained unaffected, and operations continue as usual, according to Kandla Port Trust officials.
