On December 29, 2017, the U.S. Coast Guard extended its support to the vessel 'Dependable' after reports emerged of a crew member experiencing medical complications. The emergency unfolded approximately 25 miles off the picturesque coast of Virginia Beach around 1 p.m. The 'Dependable' is currently en route to the Oceanfront, where it is set to rendezvous with the Coast Guard, Virginia Beach Marine Police, and the Virginia Beach Fireboat 12 to ensure the swift and safe transfer of the affected individual to shore for further medical assistance.

On September 17, 2016, a remarkable maritime rescue unfolded in the Arabian Sea near Mumbai, Maharashtra, as the crew of the cable layer vessel 'Dependable' saved 14 fishermen from drowning. The Indian fishing boat FV Datta Sai had tragically sunk, leaving 16 individuals stranded in the water without personal flotation devices or a VHF radio for distress communication. While en route to its next work site, the 'Dependable' spotted the distressed fishermen clinging to floating debris. Quick action was imperative, and the team sprung into action to conduct a complex and hazardous water rescue that showcased their exceptional teamwork and dedication. Captain Yann Durieux skillfully navigated the ship to ensure the safety of the men in the water, carefully avoiding the vessel’s thrusters. The crew mobilized swiftly, utilizing life-rings and their collective expertise to pull the survivors aboard. Crew members took positions across the weather decks, bow, and stern, while some served as lookouts, calling out survivor sightings. Others threw life-rings into the sea as the captain guided the ship closer to each individual in need. Security team members, securely harnessed, worked diligently to hoist the fishermen from the tumultuous waters. After successfully rescuing 14 individuals, the 'Dependable' transferred them to an Indian Coast Guard vessel, all while contending with intermittent squalls. A subsequent effort by the Coast Guard resulted in the recovery of one additional survivor and sadly one deceased fisherman.
