New Charter Agreement Secured for 'Mount Sinai'
A new charter agreement has been finalized for the bulk carrier 'Mount Sinai', which will transport 170,000 tons of ore from Port Hedland to Qingdao. The deal features a freight rate of $6.20 per ton, with loading conditions set for 80,000 tons shinc (shipped on board nominal cargo) and discharge conditions for 30,000 tons shinc. Nikko Kisen Divests Its Oldest Cape Sizer, Shagang First, in a Strategic Move
Kobe-based bulker specialist Nikko Kisen has officially sold its oldest cape-sized vessel, the nine-year-old Shagang First, which boasts a deadweight tonnage of 177,656 dwt. This transaction was reported by various broking sources and involves an undisclosed buyer from Singapore. With this sale, Nikko Kisen retains a fleet of three modern cape-sized ships that were built between 2010 and 2011, in addition to other bulk carrier sizes. The Mitsui-built Shagang First was sold for an impressive $18.5 million.
