On May 30th, Maersk Line proudly introduced a new bi-weekly liner service aimed at enhancing shipping operations in Papua New Guinea, labeled as the PNG Express. This innovative service will utilize two vessels: the 874 TEU Reecon Wolf and the 712 TEU Vega Fynen, featuring a capacity of 314 and 220 reefer plugs respectively. The PNG Express will follow a strategic port rotation that includes Tanjung Pelepas, Jakarta, Port Moresby, Lae, Madang, and back to Tanjung Pelepas. To promote schedule reliability and ensure the availability of equipment for this fortnightly service, Maersk Line has arranged for the Reecon Wolf to complete a full rotation starting from Tanjung Pelepas on May 9th, positioning empty containers in vital ports across Papua New Guinea. This initiative promises to strengthen trade and logistics in the region.
