In the early hours of March 1, 2018, at 3:30 a.m., Avon Fire and Rescue received an urgent call regarding a fire in the hold of the cargo vessel 'Dionysus' at Royal Portbury Dock in Bristol. The ship was transporting animal feed for import when an excavator in its hold ignited unexpectedly. Thanks to the effective safety measures in place at the port and the swift action taken by emergency responders, the blaze was quickly controlled. A total of 11 fire appliances were deployed at the scene, including two turntable ladders and a water safety boat to aid in firefighting efforts.
