On the evening of June 1, 2019, the cargo vessel 'Swertia' found itself stranded in the waters near Itoshima City, Fukuoka, while making its way from Ube to Hong Kong. The local Karatsu Coast Guard promptly responded to the situation, monitoring the vessel closely as it remained aground. In an effort to free the 'Swertia', a tugboat was dispatched, successfully refloating the vessel on June 4. Following the refloating operation, the Karatsu Coast Guard conducted interviews with the ship's captain and crew to investigate the reasons behind the grounding. Once freed, the 'Swertia' was towed to Tobo Port in Karatsu, where it stayed until July 24. The vessel then resumed its journey, departing from the port on July 31, with its next destination set for Ningbo and an expected arrival date of August 3.
