Incident Involving DON STAR 1: Collision with Barge Artemida in Tsimlyanskiy Reservoir
On November 6, 2010, at 00:45 LT, the cargo vessel DON STAR 1, IMO 8866735, collided with the anchored barge Artemida in the Tsimlyanskiy Reservoir, precisely at the 2788-kilometer mark. The barge, managed by Prime Shipping Ltd and being pushed by the tug Irakl, was stationary while awaiting better weather conditions. The collision resulted in a significant breach on the port side of the barge, measuring approximately 2.5 x 2.0 meters above the waterline. Fortunately, there were no reported damages to the Omskiy-102. This vessel was en route from a port in Ukraine to Iran, carrying a cargo of 3,000 metric tons of steel. Following the incident, all vessels involved were anchored, pending further investigation into the accident.
