Langh Tech, the Finnish innovator specializing in scrubbers for SOx emissions and water treatment solutions, has made a significant advancement in the maritime industry with the successful delivery of a cutting-edge scrubber system for Chios Navigation’s latest vessel. The Medium Range product tanker, boasting a deadweight of 50,000 tons, is a new-build constructed at the Hyundai Mipo Shipyard. Chios Navigation, a prominent Greek shipping company that manages a fleet of nine bulk carriers and three medium-range product tankers, opted for Langh Tech’s Open Loop-Hybrid ready scrubbers as part of its new-building initiative in early 2018. The state-of-the-art scrubber system features a U-type multi-inlet configuration, harnessing five flue gas sources to cater to the main engine's power of 7180 kW MCR. Additionally, the setup efficiently supports three auxiliary generator sets and an auxiliary boiler, while maintaining a minimal power consumption of approximately 130 kW under design operating conditions. Following its successful installation, the M/T Doric Courage was launched at the end of April 2019, with sea trials validating the exceptional performance and user-friendly nature of the scrubber system.
