On December 28, 2022, a dramatic maritime rescue unfolded in the Bangka Strait when the bulk carrier 'STL Miracle' came to the aid of the 37 crew members aboard the Indonesian-flagged crane ship 'Ark Shiloh'. The 'Ark Shiloh' encountered severe weather conditions that led to a leak in its starboard ballast tanks while attempting to seek shelter from turbulent waves. Despite collaborative efforts by the crew members of both vessels to pump out the water, they were unable to mitigate the advancing water ingress, resulting in the crane ship's destabilization. The crew was forced to evacuate onto the 'STL Miracle', the very vessel that had previously been engaged in coal transfer services with 'Ark Shiloh'.
