Containership Arx Experiences Engine Failure Near East Prawle, Safely Arrives in Dublin
On September 30, 2018, the fully cellular containership Arx (IMO: 6901 gt, built in 2005) encountered an engine failure while navigating 11.5 nautical miles southeast of East Prawle. The incident occurred at approximately 1521 hours UTC, with the vessel's position recorded at latitude 50° 05.6'N and longitude 003° 31.6'W. Fortunately, there were no reported pollution issues stemming from the malfunction. Arx was transporting a significant amount of fuel on board, including 16,800 liters of lube oil, 412.01 metric tonnes of fuel oil, and 72.45 metric tonnes of gas oil. Following the engine failure, the vessel successfully made its way to Dublin, arriving on October 1, 2018, without incident.
