Working Conditions Aboard the Eems-Sky

In a remarkable act of humanitarian aid, the crew aboard the cargo vessel Eems Sky successfully rescued 52 African migrants who were stranded in a rubber boat on the Atlantic Ocean. The rescue operation took place on August 27, 2017, approximately 30 miles west of the Strait of Gibraltar. The Eems Sky, en route from Sunndalsøra to Gaeta with an estimated arrival date of September 2, encountered the distressed group in a vessel lacking propulsion. The timely action of the crew not only saved lives but also highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by migrants at sea.
