The 'Eems Transporter' has officially returned to the open sea following extensive repairs that commenced after a grounding incident on April 3. The vessel, which was transporting a substantial steel cargo of 2563 metric tons from Iskenderun to France, suffered a high-speed grounding approximately 0.5 miles north of Diafani on the island of Karpathos. After being successfully refloated, the ship was towed to Emden for essential repairs. On June 6, 2011, the repairs were finalized at the Neptun dock, allowing the 'Eems Transporter' to embark on its first voyage post-repair. Shortly after its departure, the ship made its way to Amsterdam, arriving on June 10, before continuing its journey to Immingham where it docked on June 11. The vessel then set sail for Bremen two days later, marking a successful return to service.
