The iconic Dutch tugboat Elbe has recently embarked on its inaugural journey carrying commercial passengers, marking a significant milestone in its storied history. After a meticulous restoration process that spanned twelve years, the vessel is now recognized with a Lloyd's class 100 A1 Tug certification, allowing it to accommodate up to 80 day passengers. Originally launched in 1959 for the deep-sea fleet of L Smit in Rotterdam, the Elbe has undergone various transitions before being preserved by the dedicated members of the Foundation Maritime Collection Rijnmond, saving it from imminent scrapping.
