Maritime Incident Off Gotland: 'Conmar Elbe' and 'Falshöft' Collide
On December 8, 2012, at approximately 5 p.m., a maritime collision occurred off the coast of Gotland involving the freighter 'Conmar Elbe' and the bulk carrier 'Falshöft'. The 'Conmar Elbe', traveling from Flushing, was struck by the 'Falshöft', resulting in minor damages to both vessels. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among the crews; the 'Conmar Elbe' was manned by 11 personnel, while 'Falshöft' had 16 crew members aboard. The incident took place 23 nautical miles east-southeast of Faro, Gotland, where the 'Falshöft' sustained visible damage to its starboard bow above the waterline. Despite the collision, both ships managed to continue their journeys under their own power following an inspection by the Coast Guard. The 'Falshöft', which had departed from the Churchill Dock in Antwerp, successfully docked in Tallinn on December 9 shortly after noon. The 'Conmar Elbe' was scheduled to arrive in St. Petersburg on December 10 at 6 a.m., continuing its voyage without significant delays.
