According to a report from ReCAAP, a distressing robbery took place on October 16, 2012, at approximately 0405 hours local time involving the bulk carrier, Bulk Neptune. The vessel was securely anchored at Muara Berau Anchorage, located in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, Makassar Strait, Indonesia, at the coordinates 00°15.67'N 117°35.65'E. During a routine security patrol, two Able-Bodied (A/B) crew members encountered three unidentified men at the forecastle of the ship. The crew promptly alerted the duty officer about the intruders and approached the men to ascertain their intentions.
