On September 5, 2025, the bulk carrier 'Elina B', while transporting ballast from Humen via Singapore to Gemlik, encountered engine failure near Sarıçay during its transit of the Çanakkale Strait. The incident prompted an immediate response from the Çanakkale Ship Traffic Services Center, which efficiently dispatched the rescue tugs 'Kurtarma 18' (IMO: 9974890) and 'Kurtarma 20' (IMO: 9995117) to assist the beleaguered vessel.
