On February 7, 2022, the managing entity Peter Döhle Schifffahrts KB based in Hamburg reported a significant incident aboard the MOL Genesis. The fire originated in the vessel's garbage storage compartment and was promptly extinguished by the crew. The MOL Genesis, which had departed from Port Klang on February 3, successfully docked at the APM Terminals in Pipavav on February 9 at 8:30 a.m. Fortunately, there were no injuries or environmental pollutants reported as a result of the incident. In response, the Gabinete de Investigação de Acidentes Marítimos e da Autoridade para a Meteorologia Aeronáutica (GAMA) in Lisbon has initiated an investigation to gather and analyze pertinent evidence, additionally informing the European Commission through the European Marine Casualty Information Platform (EMCIP).
