P&O Ferries is making significant updates to its North Sea fleet, introducing the 2,270-lanemetre vessel ESTRADEN to its operations alongside the 2,863-lanemetre BORE SONG. Both ferries will service the crucial route between Zeebrugge and Teesport, bolstering P&O's commitment to efficient and reliable maritime transport.

P&O Ferries is making strategic moves to bolster its North Sea freight services by reallocating vessels. Effective from the first week of June, the company has repositioned the Bore Line-chartered ESTRADEN, boasting a capacity of 2,270 lane meters, from its Europoort-Teesport route to the Zeebrugge-Teesport service. This change comes as the Godby Shipping-owned MISTRAL, with a smaller capacity of 1,625 lane meters, has been withdrawn from the Zeebrugge-Teesport run. This fleet reshuffle aims to meet rising demand and improve efficiency in the freight logistics network across the North Sea.

Norsepower Oy, the Finnish marine engineering innovator, has kicked off sea trials aboard Bore Ltd's M/V Estraden, focusing on a groundbreaking auxiliary wind propulsion system designed to enhance fuel efficiency in maritime operations. According to Maritime Executive, this pilot project seeks to validate both the environmental benefits and practical usability of the technology, which incorporates an impressive 18-metre-high rotor sail. Norsepower's CEO, Tuomas Riski, emphasized that the Norsepower Rotor Sail Solution has the potential for retrofitting across more than 20,000 vessels within the global merchant fleet. This versatile solution can be seamlessly installed on existing ships without imposing any off-hire costs, marking a significant step towards sustainable shipping practices.
