Search Efforts Conclude for Overboard Indian Seafarer in Australia
Australian maritime authorities have officially suspended the search for Mukesh Lala Fulbaria, a 41-year-old Indian seafarer who tragically fell overboard from the tanker 'Sigma Integrity' on July 27, 2014. The incident occurred approximately 107 nautical miles north-west of Carnarvon, within the Australian Search and Rescue Region. The Australian Marine Safety Authority (AMSA) was alerted to the situation and promptly issued a broadcast to surrounding vessels. In response, two merchant ships, 'Venus' and 'Vil Atlantic', joined the search efforts to locate Fulbaria. Additionally, AMSA deployed the Perth-based Dornier search aircraft to conduct aerial reconnaissance over the designated area. Search operations were further enhanced by two Bristow helicopters based in Exmouth, which were also dispatched by AMSA. The crew of the 'Sigma Integrity' carried on with their search efforts overnight into July 28, however, the Dornier plane made two further flights over the area with no sign of the missing seafarer. Following consultations with medical experts specializing in survival scenarios, AMSA received advice indicating that, under the given conditions, there was no realistic prospect of Fulbaria's survival any longer.
