Whale Carcass Found on Container Ship Arrival in Los Angeles
On February 27, 2013, the container vessel "Ever Dainty" made a startling entry into the Los Angeles port when an adult male fin whale's carcass was discovered lodged in its bow section. The presence of noticeable bruising on the whale's body suggested that it had been struck by the ship during its journey. Christina Fahy, a biologist from NOAA Fisheries, confirmed that the whale was still alive when the "Ever Dainty" was en route from Coco Solo. Following its arrival, the carcass was towed out to sea, where measurements were conducted to gather more data.
