Ocean Koper Welcomes New ASD Tug from Bogazici Denizcilik
In a significant development for the maritime industry, Slovenian tug operator Ocean Koper DOO has proudly taken delivery of a state-of-the-art ASD tug, further underscoring the growing influence of Turkish shipyards in tug construction. The newly delivered vessel, named Adler, comes from Istanbul's Bogazici Denizcilik. The European tug manufacturing landscape is typically characterized by a limited number of both small and large yards producing vessels based on their own designs and those from renowned naval architects. Adler, the product of yard number 58, was officially handed over after a contract was signed by Mr. Radko Malacic, the general manager of Ocean Koper, with the design originating from Cintranaval-Defcar in Spain. This robust tug has been constructed adhering to Bureau Veritas (BV) regulations and carries multiple classifications, including IX HULL, XMACH, Escort Tug, Salvage Tug*, Fire-Fighting Ship 1, Water Spraying, and Unrestricted Navigation XAUT-UMS, IWS. The tug’s versatile design allows it to perform a range of vital operations, including salvage and oil recovery missions. Measuring 32.5 meters in length overall (LOA), with a moulded breadth of 11.7 meters, a depth of 5.6 meters, and a design draught of 4.3 meters, Adler is set to make its mark. Its power is generated through dual Caterpillar 3516C main engines, each delivering 2,100 kW at 1,600 RPM, which propel twin Schottel SRP 1515 CP azimuth thrusters. Auxiliary capabilities include two Caterpillar C9 engines, each providing 150 kW. Performance metrics for the Adler reveal an impressive 72.44 tons of bollard pull ahead, alongside a maximum speed of 14 knots. This delivery signifies not only a successful collaboration in maritime engineering but also a notable addition to Ocean Koper's fleet.
