On the morning of January 10, 2017, a maritime incident occurred in the East China Sea near Shanghai, involving the vessel 'Stella Cherise' and the bulk carrier 'Spartacus'. The collision resulted in minor damages to the 'Spartacus', which subsequently anchored in the Yangtze River estuary close to Shanghai. In contrast, the 'Stella Cherise' sustained significant damage, with a five-meter section of its starboard hull compromised both above and below the waterline. This vessel began to take on water in cargo hold number five and was reported adrift. Rescue efforts were initiated by the Shanghai Maritime Salvage Bureau, supported by the tugboat unit from SIPG, with multiple vessels including 'Hujijiu 18', 'Dong Hai Jiu 102', 'Hai Gang 28', and 'Ha Gang 21' dispatched to assist in the salvage operations, which were still in progress. At the time of the incident, the 'Stella Cherise' was en route from Zhang Jiagang to Port Hedland after discharging its cargo.
