Fayze K Detained in Gemlik Due to Safety Violations
On September 12, 2025, the cargo vessel 'Fayze K' faced detention in Gemlik, Turkey, after authorities identified a total of 21 deficiencies on board. Among these, seven deficiencies were categorized as serious enough to warrant the ship's detention. Key issues included significant fire safety concerns such as the absence of a fire detection and alarm system, along with other fire safety equipment deficiencies. Further, the inspection revealed that critical components related to water and weather-tightness, including damaged ventilators and air pipes, posed further risks. Additional deficiencies noted were unsatisfactory cleanliness in the engine room, inadequate bilge pumping arrangements, inoperative machinery control alarms, and insufficient fire drill training for the crew. Following rectification of the issues, the 'Fayze K' was cleared and set sail again on September 16, heading towards Alexandria.
Odesa Region Sees Three Ships Depart via Temporary Black Sea Corridor
On the morning of October 17, 2023, three vessels, namely 'Bull', 'Ramus', and 'Bahar K', set sail from the ports of the Odesa Region as they embarked on their journey through the newly established temporary corridor in the Black Sea. The 'Bull' had previously arrived at a Ukrainian port on October 12 for loading operations. Meanwhile, the 'Ramus' and 'Bahar K' had entered the corridor on October 13, both heading towards Italy with estimated times of arrival set for October 25 and October 23, respectively. Additionally, the ship 'Briza' made its entry into one of the Ukrainian ports along the Black Sea on the same day. According to calculations from the Center for Transport Strategies, a total of 33 vessels, including 'Briza', have navigated the newly designated route established by Ukraine to access Odesa Region ports. When factoring in the exit of ships—comprising five vessels that have been docked since the onset of Russia’s invasion in February 2022—the total number of ships that have left the ports now stands at 24. In summary, the total traffic along this route reflects 57 ships traversing in both directions.
