The two vessels came into contact due to insufficient distance between them. Despite the incident, both ships managed to proceed to Kiel, where the local water police commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the collision. After departing from the Kiel locks at 1:00 p.m., the Fenja resumed its journey and arrived at Levant Quay in Copenhagen at 8:00 a.m. on May 11.
