In an unusual incident on July 1, 2016, at 1 a.m., crew members aboard the ferry 'Finnmaid' were surprised to identify a stowaway shortly after the vessel departed from Travemünde, bound for Helsinki. Authorities were alerted when the crew found a 31-year-old Iranian man who was in a wheelchair and lacked any form of identification.
