Stowaway Discovered on Finnmaid Ferry with Unexpected Twist
In an unusual incident on July 1, 2016, at 1 a.m., crew members aboard the ferry 'Finnmaid' were surprised to identify a stowaway shortly after the vessel departed from Travemünde, bound for Helsinki. Authorities were alerted when the crew found a 31-year-old Iranian man who was in a wheelchair and lacked any form of identification. Subsequent investigations revealed that he had been previously reported missing in Finland. Given his medical condition, an ambulance was promptly summoned, and he was transported to Sana-Hospital Lübeck for treatment. It later emerged that the individual had sought asylum in Finland. Four ambulances were dispatched to the scene, accompanied by personnel from Fire Station 3. Initial investigations revealed no presence of hazardous substances in the area. The water police have since taken charge of the matter to determine the cause of the workers' symptoms.

On the night of February 14, 2014, at approximately 9:45 PM, a maritime incident unfolded at the Scandinavia Quay in Lübeck-Travemünde involving the ferry 'Finnmaid' and the German tanker m/v 'Annika'. While the 'Annika', measuring 73 meters in length, was maneuvering from dock 7 to dock 6, it collided with the bow of the 'Finnmaid'. The collision resulted in significant damage to the superstructure of the 'Annika', while the 'Finnmaid' sustained only minor injuries. Following the incident, the 'Finnmaid' departed the port on February 15 at 4:00 AM, making its way to Helsinki, where it successfully docked on February 16 at 7:45 AM, before setting sail for St. Petersburg at around 2:00 PM.
