On January 8, 2016, the ferry 'Ofoten' encountered a significant operational challenge while navigating toward Bodø. The vessel, while en route, became entangled with ropes, leading to a halt in propulsion around 6 p.m. The ferry subsequently anchored between Meva and Sørøya in the municipality of Gildeskål. A total of 10-15 passengers were safely evacuated using a lifeboat and successfully transported to Sørvær. There, they were picked up by the speedboat 'Fjord Princess,' which departed at approximately 6:45 p.m. Due to this incident, the ferry's scheduled departure from Bodø at 8 p.m. was canceled. Efforts were made to assist the 'Ofoten' in clearing the obstruction from its propellers with the help of the lifeboat. On April 20, 2015, at 10 a.m., the speedy ferry 'Ofoten' was the first to arrive at the scene of a fishing vessel engulfed in flames in the Meløy Fjord. The vessel was spotted billowing smoke and fierce flames. A 70-year-old man was aboard the fishing boat when the fire broke out in the engine room. Fortunately, he managed to escape to safety, reaching the shore with the aid of a rubber boat. By 11 a.m., efforts were underway to tow the charred wreck towards land; however, it remained ablaze into the night, raising concerns of a total loss.
